On October 12, at 7 PM, a grand concert will take place at St. John's Church in Vilnius, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. This special event will feature one of Bruckner's most magnificent works – the "Mass in F minor."
The concert will be conducted by Norwegian conductor Jon Fylling, with a remarkable ensemble of performers: the Norwegian Vocal Ensemble, the Vilnius University Mixed Choir "Pro Musica," the Bodø Chamber Choir, and the Vilnius Amateur Symphony Orchestra. The performance will be further enriched by soloists Malgožata Patricija Minkel (soprano), Skirmantė Vaičiūtė (mezzo-soprano), Laurynas Viliušis (tenor), and Konstantin Toman (bass).
This concert is part of the 200th anniversary tour of Bruckner's Mass in F minor, which has already been performed in Belgium and will continue in Norway. This unique series of events, taking place across three European countries with four different orchestras, brings together music lovers from different cultures to celebrate the life and work of this great composer.
Norwegian conductor Jon Fylling shares his excitement about the project: "When I was 13, I discovered the works of Anton Bruckner and promised myself that one day I would conduct his 'Mass in F minor.' This Mass is not only a majestic work but also a personal spiritual testament of the composer. I am very happy to present this work to the Vilnius audience along with talented musicians and choirs."
Anton Bruckner's Mass in F minor is one of the most notable masterpieces of 19th-century sacred music. The six-part mass (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, Agnus Dei) conveys both spiritual depth and the dramatic, symphonic lines characteristic of the composer. The performance of this piece at St. John's Church in Vilnius will be a unique musical event, inviting the audience to explore the works of this renowned Austrian composer.
